The US can put 100000000000% tariffs on Canadian goods, and it's not going to matter.
Well, I mean it won't hurt Canada. You want to put tariffs on steel and aluminum? GREAT! We didn't want to sell it to you in the first place. We were taking a loss for years being forced to sell it cheap to the US because of NAFTA. We're MORE THAN HAPPY to sell it to China, Japan, and or England for way more than we were making selling to the US.

Eyk and I can tell you first hand as we were both part owners of Waterloo Farm Coop for years. NAFTA fucked Canada. Our hands were tied selling things for far less than we could get on the open market being forced to sell to the US. With Trump ripping that shit up, it's the best thing that can happen. It opens the gates to sell to other places globally where you can make FAR more than you would for selling to The US.
Prime example. Our Farms in Kitchener.
Under NAFTA we were required to sell the first 1500 bushels of soy beans to the US, at $6.35 a bushel. You'd get about $9500, but the cargo cost would be around $1800. So you're new would be around $7,700.
But with Trump ripping NAFTA up? We sell exactly ZERO to the US. Can have all the tariffs you want, cause you get fuck all. Meanwhile we sell them to China and Japan and Indonesia for $12.65 a bushel So $19,000 with a cargo cost of around $2500. So we make $15,500 instead. So we literally make double selling internationally instead of selling to the US.
It's like that for basically everything. So if you don't want to buy Canadian goods, fine, fuck you, don't care, we'll HAPPILY sell them for twice as much as we had to because of NAFTA.
Meanwhile we don't take your sit either. But you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, because we were buying shit we didn't even want (like Whiskey) for years just to meet NAFTA agreements, now we don't need or want any of your shit. And you have nowhere else to sell it
